It is difficult to imagine anywhere other than Snowdonia where you could find as many outdoor activities to get the heart pumping with mountain biking, gorge walking, white water rafting and mountaineering. If you wish to be a  little less energetic walking in the beautiful forest discovering a hundred waterfalls climbing Cadir Idris for a awesome view of Snowdonia or in the other direction across the Irish sea to Ireland. Fishing on the many Salmon and trout rivers or a round of Golf, and for those who wish to just stop and stare then Spend some time Looking for the Deer or pine martins in the local forest or bird watching in the woods or on the Estuary or taking photographs almost anywhere, so much you will fill many memory cards or film! Also at the hotel if you prefer a more guided experience we can arrange for professional guides to take you up cliff faces, down into the depths of mines across the estuary in canoes or on the longest downhill cycle ride we could create through Coed-Y-Brenin

White Water Rafting Near Bala

Alternatively, why not enjoy rafting on the white water courses near to Bala - or leave your car behind, take a packed lunch, don your hiking boots and set out to walk all day. 

And if sea trout and salmon fishing is your passion the hotel has four rods on the Mawddach river available to resident guests. with several excellent pools  for Salmon and the Hotel can support your late night trips to reel them in. In some years the pools are on record as producing 1 yard of fish for every yard of water (35 yard long salmon caught in a 38 yard pool Fishing season is mid March to mid October.

Golf at Royal St David's at Harlech - 30 minutes drive away, or play the 9 Hole Course at Dolgellau

Guests interested in golf can play at the Royal St David's course at Harlech or the championship course at Aberdyfi which are both 30 minutes drive away. Or for pure relaxation  the 9 hole mountain top  course at Dolgellau, with its beautiful mountain views

  • Climb Cader Idris, the Rhinog, Arenig and Arran mountains
  • Take a trip to Snowdon itself less than 30 miles
  • Visit fascinating Port Meirion and the famous castles of Wales
